# Pydio 8 fails after server upgrade

Our Pydio installation, version 8.2.3, lives on our web server. Said server was recently upgraded from Debian 8 to 11. Another change was in Apache with PHP being changed from version 5 to version 7.4.
After the upgrade the first error was the database was no longer accessible. This was easily solved by restarting the local installation of MariaDB.
Now I am getting the following error when I attempt to load the Pydio portion of the site: “Call to a member function getName() on bool” Searching around has found nothing.
If there is no way to get Pydio working again would it be possible to upgrade to Cells with only access to the database?

Pydio 8 is no more actively maintained. And it currently does not support php7.4.
If there is no way to get Pydio working again would it be possible to upgrade to Cells with only access to the database?
You should fix this issue by downgrading to php7.3

I’m aware that it is no longer maintained. Also the server does not have PHP 7.3 installed nor available for installation, as such a downgrade is not possible.
If I have the database available can I just have Cells connect to it? Or do I have to recreate everything from scratch?

Hello,
You should do the migration from pydio 8 to cells.
However, you need pydio8 online because the migration works on the api of P8
