# Generate thumbnails for Video files

### Describe your issue in detail

Is it possible to manually insert thumbnail row data to the data\_index\_thumbnails\_idx\_tree d/b table to associate with an already uploaded video file?

We could maybe use ffmpeg outside of the Pydio system to generate a thumbnail, upload it to the thumbnails folder (bucket) then insert a new row into the data\_index\_thumbnails\_idx\_tree d/b table - how is “etag”, “mode”, “mpath1”, “hash” and “hash2” generated?

Or a REST API endpoint?

4.4.15

### What is the server OS? Database name/version?

Debian OS
